Hadei W.

Hi my name is Hadei. My most favorite type of books are fiction chapter books. I don’t like non-fiction chapter books. I like fiction chapter books because most of them have a good story in it that at the end you want to read more.

My favorite book of all time is called The Tale Of Despereaux. It is a fiction chapter book. What’s cool about it is that there are different stories in the book. And at the end they all come together. The story is about a mouse who falls in love with a princess and because of that he was sent to the Dungun by the other mice.

I have one goal as a reader. That goal is to read all 20 mark twain books by may. I have that goal because if I a complete it I get rewards like going to challenge and going on a field trip. And that is my goal as a reader.

Strasser, Todd. Is that a dead dog in your locker? New York: scholastic, 2006

In this book Daisy and the tardy boys get into worlds of trouble all because of that stinky Wheezy. If the assistant principle snout A .K. A (germ freak) finds out about wheezy he will not be happy. Daisy feeds Wheeezy French cheese. Will the nasty order give them away or will they be caught. To solve this crazy mystery, visit your local library and look for this hilarious realistic fiction book.
What I really liked about this book is that it always keeps you going. And for some reason it made me want to read it again.
What I didn’t like about this book was well the part where it confused me because first Wheeze’s owner was a old man it said "He was wearing black nylon shorts and a hooded sweatshirt, he looked like a professional wrestler. He was!”

Choldenko, Gennifer. Al Capone Does My shirts. New York: scholastic, 2004.
Realistic fiction.
In this book there are all kinds’ characters. Sweet ones snotty ones even stubborn ones. First Moose moves to an island called Alcatraz. Once they settle in he has to meet the warden. The warden tells moose all the rules about living on Alcatraz. The wardens’ daughter Pipper is a snot nose brat. She comes up with a plan that will make her and moose rich. If you are interested in this book just go to your local library.
What I really liked about this book was the part where Pipper said “you’re the only loser who follows the rules.” I liked it because it kind puts out who Pipper really is.
What I didn’t like about the book was when Pipper and Moose start telling lies about Alcatraz.

Silverstien, Shel. A Light in The Attic. New York: Harper Collins, 1981.
Poem book
In this book there are poems that make you laugh and some poems that make you sad. Any way there is lots of great poems in this book. My favorite one is Snake Problem.
What I liked about this book was well my favorite poem “Snake problem.” I liked it because it tells the poem then at the end it spaces out and at the bottom the snake is twisted in letters that say “Ilove you.”
What I didn’t like about this book was that some of the poems didn’t make sense at all like the poem “moon catch’ in net.”

Smith, Roland. Peak. New York: Scholastic, 2007

Genre: Realistic Fiction

Peak is about a fourteen year old named Peak. He gets caught climbing a sky scrapper by the cops. He goes to JDC for three days. When he goes to face the judge he may have to stay in JDC for three long years. But then his dad makes the judge a deal that if he takes Peak out of the country for three years he will not have to go to jail. Little did Peak know he was going to climb the tallest mountain in the world.

What I didn’t like about this book was when the judge said “Oh please this kid has received absolutely every consideration the system can offer” because he was being rude to Peak.

What I did like about this story is when peak was climbing up the sky scrapper he said “To reach the top a climber must have muscles, skin and … A FACE!” I liked it because I thought it was funny. Also I thought Peak was being a little sarcastic.

Smith, Roland. Peak. New York: Scholastic, 2007

Genre: Realistic Fiction

Hi it’s me again. This time I’ve gotten farther in the book and now Peak is on Mount Everest. He is at base cap now and his dad is preparing him for the big trip up the mountain. He has to stay at base camp for awhile because his lungs have to adjust to the thin air. A monk named Zopa helped Peak get up there in the first place. He helped him get the right gear including all of the right sizes. And he did all of this because Josh donated money to the place he works at.

What I liked about this part of the book was when Peak said “That’s impossible” and after that the snow starts coming down. Anyway I liked this part because he was finally proven wrong.

What I didn’t like about the book was when Peak said “What kind of bird is that?” I didn’t like that part because the bird that they saw was a raven. That is the bird that people believe is a sign of death.

Hey Hadei, it’s Monse. As I read your post, you got me in to wanting to read Peak.Every one says that Peak is a great book, but they never described it as well, as I read your post the words that you used really got my attention, and i really like that. Like you said that Peak and the other people believed that the raven was a sign of death, I would be freaked out if it was true and if I saw the raven pop out some where! Keep reading it and find out what happens.

Hadei- I did think the ending to Peak was a little slow. It was kind of boring at the end. What are you reading right now? I'm reading The Face on the Milk Carton. It's about a girl named Janie who looks at a milk carton and sees a photo of her, so she starts to think she has been kidnapped! It's a really interesting book, and it's kind of a mystery. You should read it! It's really good!-Brittany HOF'07

Carlson, Melody. Just Ask. Sisters , Oregon: Multnomah Publishers INC.
Realistic fiction
This book is about a teenage girl named Kim. She was adopted from Kareea. She is 16 and she really wants a car. There is a Yellow Jeep next door that is for sale. Her parents said she can have it if she keeps a clean driving record. The next when she was driving her mom’s car home from the mall she got a speeding ticket. When she got home she told her Dad and they made a deal if she wrote a weekly column in her Dad’s news paper he would not tell her Mom. Kim agreed because in the column her name was Jamie so no one would know it was her. After about two weeks she got the jeep but the letters from the column made her think is god really real?

What I liked a bout this book is when she get’s her new jeep and tells her friend Natalie “ her name is Daisy” I liked it because it was pretty funny I mean come on who names their cars? No one.

What I didn’t like about this book was when people at school started critasising the column and say “ Jamie is a total idiot” and when they said “ I don’t even get why you guys read that geeky column.” I didn’t like this part because even though her friends didn’t know about it they were talking about her. And Kim was getting blamed for something that Kim didn’t do but Jamie did.

Carlson, Melody. Just Ask. Sisters, Oregon: Multnomah Publishers INC.

Realistic fiction

This time when Kim goes to her friend Natalie’s church for a movie (the movie was a reenactment of the bible.) she realizes she committed her self to God. Now she doesn’t feel so weird about the IT box under her bed (the box has the letters that ask questions about God). She hasn’t told anyone yet she is sure her parents know. When she replies a letter to someone about God she basically spills her guts about committing to God. Will her friends find out that “Jamie” is Kim or will she tell them?

What I liked about this part of the book was when she said “I officially committed to God today” I liked it because it was about time she believe in him her friends are always preaching to her telling her she needs to believe in him.

What I didn’t like about this part of the book was when she said “I haven’t told anyone about me committing to God yet.” I didn’t like this part because she might as well tell people if they are going to find out anyway.

Hale, Marian. The Truth About Sparrows. New York: Henry Holt and Company, 2004

Genre: Realistic Fiction

Satie is a farm girl from Missouri there was a horrible drought so her family decided to move. Satie didn’t want to because she would be leaving her best friend. They were moving to Texas. On there way they had to stop every night and camp. After a few days in Texas the stopped at a field and started to pick cotton for money.

What I did like about this part of the book was when the text read from Satie's point of view “I’m going to have to accept my new life like mamma said but it was all ready starting with a red haired girl who didn’t know I had a promise to keep. I liked this part because it is good that she finally accepted that she had to let her old life go.

What I didn’t like about this book was when Satie sad to her self “Why is that man starring at my dad?” I didn’t like this part because it is not nice to stare at someone because they’re not like you.

Hey Hadei! I read The Truth about Sparrows in fourth grade. I didn’t finish it but I only got to chapter 12, but it was awesome!!!! I would agree with you that it isn’t nice to stare at people when they’re not like you. It would be kind of hard to let your old life go, I mean, to leave your town, your school, and your friends!!!! Wouldn’t that be tough? Well enjoy your reading!!!

Riordan, Rick. The Sea of Monsters. New York: Scholastic, 2006.
Genre: Fantasy
Ok first I have to say I’m only half way through this book but so far I loved IT! Well so far Percy is afraid that something is going wrong at camp Half Blood. The reason why is because Percy had this dream about Grover that he was being chased by something evil. That meant he couldn’t go to Camp Half Blood. So he goes to his school and he is in Gym. Well there was some new kids at school hanging out with the school bully. So in Gym they play dodge ball. Until these “ New Kids” get picked on the bullies team of Corse all of the jocks went on his team. That meant that all the geeks and weirdows were on Percy’s team. But all of a sudden the “new kids” start to get bigger and bigger. Percy smelled a weird sent in the air and the was only one answer to the things happening they were Monsters.
The best thing about this part of the book was when the monsters came to into the story. My favorite line was “ What had Tyson said? They smell funny. Monsters.” I liked it because it proved that he was a half blood because he could detect monsters.
The part I didn’t like was when Percy kept talking about his best friends life it was like he was writing a time line. For example Percy kept saying how Tyson lived in a card board box and that he was homeless.

Riordan, Rick. The sea of monsters. New York: Scholastic, 2006
Genre: Fantasy
So now I bet you want to know what happens next. Well during the game of dodge ball the “new kids” got bigger and bigger until they became monsters! They were throwing big metal balls full of fire. Percy’s best friend Tyson was starting to catch the balls and throw them back but Percy new he couldn’t do that for much longer. He isn’t even a half blood. Any way these balls were like big bombs. They had destroyed the wall to the locker room and the wall to the outside of the school. Will Percy make it? Or will he be destroyed in Gym class?
The part I didn’t like about this book was when the author kept going on and on about how the Gym was being destroyed by the Monsters.
The best part of this book was when Tyson saved Percy’s life. The book said “He saved my life.” I liked it because it showed how much Tyson cared about Percy.

Kehret, Peg. The Ghost’s Grave. New York: Scholastic, 2005.

Genre: Fantasy

When Josh goes to is aunts for a summer he thought it would be really boring. But it gets scary after he met a dead miner killed in a explosion. This man has been waiting since his death to have someone dig up his leg and bury with the rest of his body ( by now a pile of bones). Then hell will finally rest in peace. Will Josh do this for him or just ignore him and live with guilt? You’ve got to check this book out!!!
One part I liked in the book was when josh tries to get a kitten to come out of the woods he said “ Hello , kitty.” I enjoyed this part of the book because I thought it was funny when the cat ran away.
One part I didn’t like was when Josh was to much of a child to help the old ghost man. He said “ I’m not sure I’ll be able to do this.” I didn’t enjoy this part because Josh is thirteen and is acting like he is five.
